About Marklew Productions Ltd

Marklew Productions Ltd is a live event production company specialising in high-end corporate events, conferences, stages and event environments.

We are looking for a hard-working, enthusiastic and versatile General AV Technician to join our small production team.

This is a varied role covering audio, lighting and video, with the opportunity to work on high-end corporate productions at venues across the UK.

The Role

As a General AV Technician, you will be involved in the preparation, installation, operation and removal of AV equipment for live events.

You will spend time both at our Birmingham warehouse and on-site at venues around the country. The role will involve everything from preparing equipment and maintaining the kit to installing and operating systems during live shows.

We are looking for someone with a broad understanding of AV rather than someone specialising in just one discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and test AV equipment at the Marklew Productions warehouse.

  • Assist with the loading and preparation of equipment for events.

  • Install and rig audio, lighting and video equipment on-site.

  • Set up and operate LED video wall systems.

  • Assist with video playback, processing, distribution and signal management.

  • Set up and operate professional audio systems.

  • Assist with lighting installation and operation.

  • Carry out equipment testing, fault finding and basic repairs.

  • Carry out routine maintenance and servicing of AV equipment.

  • Pack, unload and organise equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Assist with the installation and dismantling of stages, sets and AV systems.

  • Occasionally operate AV equipment during live shows.

  • Work alongside project managers, technicians and other production crew.

  • Maintain a high standard of presentation when working at corporate venues.

  • Follow appropriate health & safety procedures and venue requirements.

  • Help maintain an organised, clean and professional warehouse and equipment store.

About You

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, practical and willing to get stuck in.

You should have:

  • Previous professional experience working as an AV Technician.

  • Experience across a variety of AV disciplines, including:

    • Audio

    • Lighting

    • Video

    • LED video walls

  • A good understanding of professional AV equipment and signal flow.

  • Experience installing and dismantling AV systems.

  • Experience working on live events, conferences, exhibitions or corporate productions.

  • Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

  • A practical approach to equipment maintenance and repair.

  • The ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.

  • Good attention to detail.

  • A professional appearance and attitude when working at corporate venues.

  • The ability to work independently but also as part of a small, close-knit team.

  • A full UK driving licence would be required

  • IPAF licence would be advantageous.

Working Hours & Travel

Due to the nature of the live events industry, flexibility is essential.

The main place of work will be Marklew Productions Ltd in Birmingham, but regular travel to venues throughout the UK will be required.

The role will include:

  • Early starts and late finishes.

  • Evening and overnight work.

  • Weekend work when required.

  • Overtime during busy periods.

  • Occasional overnight stays.

  • Working to tight event deadlines.

  • Travelling and working at different corporate venues across the country.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to work on high-end corporate productions.

  • A varied role covering audio, lighting and video.

  • Experience working with professional LED video wall systems and other specialist AV equipment.

  • A friendly, small and experienced production team.

  • Variety of projects and venues.

  • Competitive salary based on experience.

  • Paid overtime.

  • Opportunities to develop your technical skills across multiple AV disciplines.

  • The opportunity to progress within a growing live events company.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about live events and enjoys working across different areas of AV.

You don’t necessarily need to be an expert in every discipline, but you should have a solid working knowledge of audio, lighting and video, be keen to learn and be prepared to get involved with whatever the job requires.

You’ll need to be equally comfortable prepping equipment in the warehouse, troubleshooting a fault, installing an LED wall at a conference venue and helping operate a show.

If you’re a hands-on AV technician who takes pride in doing a great job and wants to work on high-end corporate productions as part of a small team, we’d love to hear from you.

Immediate start available.
